Defence Minister Ciuca meets French ambassador in Romania

Minister of National Defence Nicolae Ciuca on Tuesday received the presentation visit of the new French Ambassador to Romania, Laurence Auer, at the Ministry's headquarters, informs a press release of the MApN sent on Tuesday.

According to this source, the two officials highlighted the importance of the strategic bilateral dialogue in security and defence matters.

The Romanian official hailed the planned resumption, under a "2+2" format, of the meetings of the ministers of foreign affairs and defence of the two countries, and highlighted the relation of bilateral military cooperation existing between the two allied and partner states.

In this context, they highlighted the importance of the Black Sea for the security of the Euro-Atlantic space.

The meeting was also a good opportunity to discuss aspects of common interest regarding the cooperation between Romania and France in bilateral missions and operations, in allied context and within the European Union, as well as the development of long term partnership in military equipment and industrial cooperation fields.

They also underscored the potential of the European initiatives, especially of the European Defence Fund, for the bilateral industrial cooperation, specified the MapN.
