DefMin Fifor had a meeting with his Moldovan counterpart Eugen Sturza
The Minister of National Defense, Mihai Fifor, had a meeting with his Moldovan counterpart Eugen Sturza, who is paying an official visit to Bucharest on the occasion of the parade for Romania's National Day celebrated on December 1.
Discussions focused on the current status of bilateral cooperation in the defence field and the future developments, as well as on the two countries' cooperation within the international organizations, with a focus on Romania's continuous support for Moldova's European aspirations and for strengthening cooperation with the North Atlantic Alliance, in order to increase the interoperability of the armed forces.
In this context, Minister Mihai Fifor highlighted that the two states have very good relations of cooperation in the defence field at all levels and he assured his Moldovan partner of the entire support of Romania in completing the reform process of the armed forces in the Republic of Moldova. He also pointed out that the European path of this country represents a strategic objective and Romania will continue to be a supporter of the Chisinau's government's determination to respect its commitments in this area.
In his turn, Mihai Fifor reiterated that Romania will continue to support Moldova in strengthening its relations of cooperation with the North Atlantic Alliance and that our country encourages the active involvement of the Republic of Moldova in the Alliance, particularly by continuing to implement the Defense Capabilities Package.
Concerning bilateral cooperation, the two ministers agreed that in 2018 the cooperation on the practical training of the Moldovan and Romanian armed forces and military education, including by strengthening the activities within the military education institutions, would be strengthened.
