EconMin Vosganian resigns office

Economy Minister Varujan Vosganian on Monday resigned from office.

'I have tendered my resignation, I have not asked for agreement. Following my statement to the plenary session of the Senate, I had a meeting with the leaders of the ruling Social Liberal Union (USL) and I explained once again the reasons behind my statement and, at the same time, in order to eliminate any ambiguity or controversy over the activity of the Government, I explained why me tendering my resignation as economy minister is useful. I did so as the Senate, by a vote, proved my innocence and also showed the trust I enjoy among the political class as well as the heritage I leave in the Economy Ministry. Most of the important files are almost ready, and I believe this is a conformation of the fact that I did my duty at the ministry,' Vosganian said at the end of a meeting with USL co-chairs Crin Antonescu and Victor Ponta and ministers Ramona Manescu and Daniel Chitoiu.

Also attending the meeting in the office of Senate Chairman Crin Antonescu were leader of the Social Democratic Party (PSD) Senate group Ilie Sarbu and leader of the National Liberal Party (PNL) Senate group Puiu Hasotti.
