EUROPAfest transforms Bucharest into the capital of worldwide jazz
* 25 bands and musicians from 26 countries at Bucharest International Jazz Competition
10 years after the debut, EUROPAfest - Bucharest International Jazz Competition, ranked by BBC as one of the first 3 jazz contests of Europe, has won its place amongst the worldwide resonant jazz events, being appreciated by the public, the artists, and the specialists. Presenting different jazz styles, upcoming artists and musical projects from emblematic jazz centres around the world, the event has also built a powerful identity in the national cultural landscape, bringing a great number of spectators in the jazz concert halls.
2016 announces an ample anniversary edition, with 25 jazz bands in the Semifinal, coming in a variaty of performance formulas - sextet, quintet, quartet, trio and duo.
Artists from 26 countries – USA, The Netherlands, Germany, UK, Poland, Italy but also from Belgium, Canada, Colombia, South Korea, Denmark, Estonia, France, Georgia, Greece, Hong Kong - China, Indonesia, Japan, Romania, Russia, Singapore, Thailand, Turkey, Ukraine, Hungary, Venezuela, will present the new trends offering a jazz feast . The selection of the bands was made by specialists, based on the artistic value, and the fulfilment of the audience requirements.
During 14 – 21 may, under the motto “100% jazz and more” the event invites those in love with music to memorable evenings of quality jazz, original rhythms, daring ideas and surprising combinations. A week of concerts, workshops and jam sessions animated by artists from 4 continents, with different cultural backgrounds, fighting on the stage for the Grand Prize. The public will discover the sound of American jazz, next to the European, the Indonesian or the South-korean ones. With prestigious international events in portfolios, the artists will transform Bucharest into the stage of worlwide jazz.
Anyone who is already in love with jazz or wants to discover it is invited by jmEvents to come to Bucharest International Jazz Competition. Besides shows of authentic jazz, full of cheerfulness, they can choose their favourite band and cheer for it until the Final.

Under the motto It's all about live quality music!, EUROPAfest, the only European festival reuniting 4 musical genres – jazz | blues | pop | classic presents during 12 – 21 may over 300 artists from 45 countries. Besides Bucharest International Jazz Competition, the agenda also comprises: Opening Concert – Bucharest | Sibiu, concerts of jazz, blues, pop and classical music, Jeunesses International Piano Competition Dinu Lipatti, master-classes and workshops, Caffe Festival, Festival’s corner and EUROPAfest Gala.
