Fifty Romanian and foreign companies take part in Expo Plast 2013
A number of 50 Romanian and foreign companies (coming from Hungary, Turkey, France, Germany and South Korea) that work in plastic processing, producers and distributors of raw materials, equipment and tools participate in the 3rd Expo Plast fair, which is organized at Romexpo Baneasa on September 18-21.
According to president of the Employers' Association of Plastic Processors (ASPAPLAST) Marcel Mihai Diaconu, the number of participating companies, which is very close to the number in 2012, does not reflect the growing trend of the industry, about 5 percent a year.
'In Romania there are more than 3,100 plastic processing companies. About 32 percent of the plastic production is used for packaging, 22 percent, for motorcar components, an industry that has grown very much of late, and about 12 percent, for the electric engineering industry. An important consumer is the construction field too. One of the last places is held by agriculture, 7-8 percent of the entire plastic production, but I think that there is an important potential of consumption growth, for instance, when it comes to the foil for solariums and the one for covering the ground,' said the ASPAPLAST president.
He emphasized the fact that Romania was one of the European states that have a high consumption of plastics, about 30 kilograms per head. Hungary and Turkey consume 50-60 kilograms per head, Italy, almost 80-90 kilograms per head and Germany exceeded 160 kilograms per head.
Referring to the local producers of raw materials for the plastic production, Marcel Mihai Diaconu mentioned the biggest ones, Rompetrol and Oltchim, of whom he said that 'everybody expects them to come to revive, partners from Greece and Turkey included.'
