Romania, Republic of Moldova to boost social security cooperation
Romania and the Republic of Moldova will boost their cooperation on social security and step up their experience swap in this field, visiting Romanian Minister of Labour, Family Affairs, Social Security and the Elderly, Mariana Campeanu told a joint news conference with the Moldovan Minister of Labour, Social Security and Family Affairs Valentina Buliga on Thursday.
The two neighbouring states signed a social security agreement in 2010 and the visit paid by the Romanian minister to Chisinau is aimed at boosting the cooperation between the two ministries. 'Since the judicial framework is well-established, it was only normal that the concrete actions should be set by a face-to-face meeting', Campeanu said.
She invited her Chisinau ministry fellows to co-work on all the areas relating social security, so that the reforms and the taken measures might be to the citizens' benefit.
Campeanu also underscored the support Bucharest is ready to further offer the Republic of Moldova on its European route.
'I hope for the Republic of Moldova's as urgent as possible accession to the European Union. We will thus be able to stand shoulder to shoulder, as the Romanian saying goes. We need mutual support and I must tell you that it is not only the Republic of Moldova that has something to learn from us, but we can also get inspiration from you. As of this moment, we are open to discussing any problem that might emerge and to offer our support', the Romanian minister said, quoted by Agerpres correspondent.
Buliga stressed the experience undergone by Romania may be a good example for her country too. She added she wants the two countries to keep on collaborating efficiently and sign other useful agreements for the citizens living on both sides of the Prut river, making up the border between Romania and the Republic of Moldova.
