Finance minister: EBRD should be more involved in financing the private Romanian sector
Finance minister Ioana Petrescu says EBRD should get more involved in financing the private sector in Romania and supporting exporting companies.According to a press release of the ministry, Ioana Petrescu met the EBRD CEO for Central and Eastern Europe, Jean Marc Peterschmitt and EBRD director for Romania, James Hyslop.
“I appreciate EBRD’s involvement in preparing and implementing projects in Romania. I will support collaboration of the Ministry of Public Finance with this financial institution,” Petrescu said.She also showed she encourages the EBRD participation in ensuring co-financing from countries Romanian authorities need in developing and implementing European projects as well and in granting technical assistance and preparing documents necessary to increase the absorption of European funds.
Talks also had in view the application of EBRD strategy for Romania over 2012-2014.
In that context, the finance minister appreciated the fact that EBRD oriented towards financing programs for renewable energy and energy efficiency, supporting financial institutions, trade and infrastructure.
EBRD representatives showed their availability for the development, next to the Romanian state, of new long term financing instruments, offering flexibility to interested companies.
