FinMin Citu: the slight depreciation of the leu is correlated to the depreciation in the region
The slight depreciation of the leu is correlated to the depreciation in the region, as the zlot and the Forint went down following some international flow movements, considers the interim minister of finances, Florin Citu.
‘The slight depreciation of the leu today is correlated to the depreciation in the region. Zlot and forint go down as there are international flow movements. Only the PSD trumpets see differently. Do not worry. The interests will continue to go down and the trust of the investors will continue to grow in the PNL government. The quicker we have the early elections the quicker we will be able to come back to drops in prices and interests close to zero’ the minister wrote on Thursday on his facebook page.
The leu depreciated on Friday by 1.92 bani (+0.40 %) against the euro, the European currency reaching a new historical maximum and the rate established by the BNR is 4.8026 lei/euro.
BNR established on Thursday for euro 4.7834 lei.
At the end of January, the CFA Romania financial analysts anticipated a depreciation of the leu for the next 12 months, up to 4.8823 lei/euro and an increase of the interest rates both for the short maturities and for the long ones.
‘As regards the exchange rate eur/ron, almost 90% of the participants anticipate a depreciation of the leu for the next 12 months ( as compared to the present value). Thus, the average value of anticipations for the horizon of 6 months is of 4.8286 while for the horizon of 12 months the average value of the exchange rate is 4.8823’ said, at that moment, in a press release CFA Romania.
