FinMin Citu: We are ready for new measures
The authorities propose that, through the measures adopted on Wednesday, the economy will be ready to restart immediately after the cessation of the state of emergency, and they are ready to come with other support measures, according to Finance Minister Florin Citu.
In a video message posted on his Facebook page, the Finance minister shows that this is an atypical crisis that no one has ever faced and for which there are no lessons from the past.
"That is why the measures we are taking may not be perfect, but we are ready to come with new measures immediately, depending on how we see the impact on the economy," said Minister Citu.
He stressed that the measures taken by the Executive on Wednesday are aimed at maintaining the production capacity and the employees prepared for the period immediately following the state of emergency. "We want the economy to be ready to be able to restart immediately," Citu said.
He also explained that measures such as supporting SMEs by offering cheap financing or technical unemployment have also been adopted by other EU countries and must work together to maintain production capacity in the economy.
Florin Citu recalled that the package of measures presented on Wednesday represents a budgetary effort of 2pct of GDP.
"We are ready to come also with other measures depending on how the situation will evolve in the coming period. We will do everything that is up to us to reduce the impact on the economy during this period. The government makes common cause with all the Romanian entrepreneurs, with all the employees and we ask the same thing from all Romanians," said the Finance minister.
