French Festival in Romania over March 15-25 in Bucharest and in 12 other cities
The 27th edition of the French Film Festival in Romania will be held over March 15-26 in Bucharest and in 12 other cities: Cluj Napoca, Timisoara, Iasi, Arad, Brasov, Braila, Constanta, Craiova, Sfantu Gheorghe, Sibiu, Suceava and Targu Mures.
According to a press release of the French Institute, by choosing the topic of this edition, “Cinema, mon amour/ Cinema, my love,”the frstival asserts its support for cinemas in Romania, which have been in a difficult situation for years.
In order to mark 30 years since Romania has been a member of OIF, the festival includes the section Pepites francophones, a selection of movies presented at the most important international festivals.
The selection includes films like “La ligne” by Ursula Meier, a coproduction selected at 2022 Berlinales.
In the same context, the festival will host, in partnership with TV5 Monde, the international French channel, the launching of the French streaming platform in Romania and TV5MONDEPLUS: https://www.tv5mondeplus.com/fr, in the presence of the general manager of TV5 Monde, Yves Bigot.
Panoraman section, an emblem of the festival, will present 10 films which recorded a great success and appreciation of the public and critics in France, in 2023.
The movies presented include “Mourir a Ibiza”, by Anton Balekdjian, Matteo Eustachon and Leo Couture, a subtle, emotional film about friendship and “Astrakan” by David Depesseville. The latter was part of the Locarno Festival in 2022 and is an exploration of childhood in a natural, dreamy tone.
