GDP IN 2016 WAS, IN REAL TERMS, BY 4.8%1 HIGHER, AS COMPARED TO 2015

The estimated Gross Domestic Product (GDP) for 2016, in definitive data, amounted to 765.135 billion lei current prices, higher, in real terms, by 4.8 percent than in 2015, according to a press release sent by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).

The estimated GDP for 2016 in the final version went down by 0.3 percent as compared to the provisional version, revised in June 2018.

According to the INS, on resource categories, in 2016, modifications of the contribution to the GDP's growth, between the two estimates, have been registered : the industry, from +1.3 pct to +1.2 pct, as a result of modifying the volume of activity by -0.2 percentage points (from 105.3 pct to 105.1 pct); wholesale and retail; repairing automobiles and motorcycles; transportation and storage; hotels and restaurants, from +1.8 pct to +1.6 pct, as a result of modifying the workload by -1.4 percentage points (from 110.7 pct to 109.3 pct); information and communication, from +0.5 pct to +0.3 pct, as a result of modifying the volume of activity by -3.1 percentage points (from 109.4 pct to 106.3 pct); financial intermediation, from -0.2 pct to +0.4 pct, as a result of modifying the activity volume with +17.5 percentage points (from 93.6 pct to 111.1 pct).

Also, on user categories, in 2016, more significant changes of the contribution to the GDP's growth between the two estimates have been registered in: spending for the individual final consumption of public administration, from +0.7 pct to +0.2 pct, as a result of altering its volume by -8.4 percentage points (from 110.9 pct to 102.5 pct), the actual final collective consumption of public administrations, from -0.3 pct to +0.1 pct, as a result of its volume going up to +5.6 percentage points (from 96.2 pct to 101.8 pct); gross fixed capital formation, from -0.5 pct to 0.1 percent, as a result of modifying its volume by +1.9 percentage points (from 97.9 percent to 99.8 percent); the export of goods and services, from -0.6 pct to -0.3 pct.
