Gov't, unionists agree on 15pct increase in pay fund for healthcare workers
Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu on Thursday had a round of talks with officials of the Sanitas healthcare trade unions' federation, agreeing to adjust, after evaluation, the staffing schemes and unfreeze jobs in the busiest university and county hospitals, as well as on a 15% increase in the first half of the year in the pay fund for the healthcare sector.
According to the government, the discussions focused on two levels of the claims previously communicated by the Sanitas representatives, namely the need for jobs for the healthcare facilities and the pay for the healthcare workers.
Also, the evaluation will appear on the agenda of a new meeting that will take place next week, where managers of healthcare facilities and county hospital centres, the management of the National Health Insurance House and representatives of the relevant ministries will be invited to attend.
"Regarding the pay claims, it was agreed on a 15% increase in the pay fund for the healthcare sector, an increase that would be implemented in the first half of 2024," according to the government.
The meeting was also attended by Deputy Prime Minister Marian Neacsu; state advisers with the Prime Minister's Chancellery Carmen Orban and Minel Ivascu; senior official with the Ministry of Health Alexandru Rogobete, and senior official with the Prime Minister's Chancellery Mihai Constantin.
