Health Ministry welcomes deputies’ decision on the anti smoking law
The Health Ministry welcomes the decision of the Juridical Commission and Health Commission of the Chamber of Deputies on the anti smoking law. One of the changes some MPs wanted to make included the redefinition of closed area.
This amendment would have allowed smoking in public areas. Smoking is still forbidden in closed public areas, in closed public areas on the job, public transportation and playgrounds. It is a step forward in reaching an ambitious target: 2035 - Romania without tobacco, say health ministry representatives on Facebook.
The source reminds that the law observes a European directive.
On Tuesday, the Juridical and Health Commissions of the Chamber of Deputies rejected amendments to the draft law establishing conditions for the production, presentation and sale of tobacco products which said smoking was forbidden in private cars if pregnant women and children were in those vehicles.
