In Bucharest, Moldovan PM Filip says accession to the EU remains the only plan; efforts to be intensified
Moldovan Prime Minister Pavel Filip stated on Thursday in Bucharest that the accession to the European Union remains the only plan of his country and the efforts will be intensified in the context of Romania holding the Presidency of the Council of the EU in the first half of next year.
"I reiterated once again that the accession to the European Union remains our only plan and our efforts will be intensified including in the context (...) of the Romanian Presidency of the Council of the EU," Pavel Filip told a joint news conference with Prime Minister Viorica Dancila, at the end of the joint sitting of the national governments of the two countries, which was held at the Victoria Palace.
On the other hand, he mentioned that Romania is the main trade partner for the Republic of Moldova.
Furthermore, the Moldovan PM mentioned the Romanian aid for the development of education and culture infrastructure of his country.
Citizens of Romania and the Republic of Moldova won't pay roaming tariffs on December 1, which is the Greater Union Day, Moldovan Prime Minister Pavel Filip made the announcement on Thursday, adding that this is a "symbolic step ahead."
"We want to have a common communication space, we want our citizens to no longer feel like they are crossing from one country to another and to be able to talk over the phone without paying for roaming tariffs. I am glad that I agreed as a first symbolic step that our citizens won't pay roaming on December 1, which is the Greater Union Day," stated Pavel Filip, in a joint statement with Prime Minister Viorica Dancila, at the end of the joint meeting of the two countries' government, organised at the Victoria Palace in Bucharest.
He added that the necessary procedures for this to happen have already started in Moldova.
"We will sign this agreement to eliminate the roaming tariffs and I want to thank once again Mrs Prime Minister for her openness and for having this initiative, for it was her idea," said Pavel Filip.
Romania and Moldova sign new agreement on cooperation in tourism field.
Minister of Tourism Bogdan Trif and Moldovan Minister of Economy and Infrastructure Chiril Gaburici have signed a cooperation agreement on behalf of the Romanian Government and the Government of the Republic of Moldova regarding cooperation in the tourism field, the Ministry of Tourism informed on Thursday.
The development of the relations between Romania and the Republic of Moldova, by encouraging collaboration between the industries in tourism of the two countries is a priority of the Ministry of Tourism. Thus, a new Agreement focuses on cooperation in key fields for the sustainable development of tourism between the two states.
In terms of promotion, the two countries agreed to draft promotion and tourist information materials, organise documentary visits for journalists and experts in the field, as well as to participate in events and tourism fairs.
In this respect, Romania already drafted a common cultural route with the Republic of Moldova. "Stephen the Great Route." In Romania, the route includes the Suceava Citadel, Putna, The Palace of Culture in Iasi, the Neamt Citadel, settlements of the voivode in Vaslui and other places filled with Stephen's history. "The Wine Road" is a common projects that has to do with the development of tourism in the two countries. The new itinerary includes many wine cellars in Romania and the Republic of Moldova, with its goal is the promotion of the two countries as a tourist product that will attract foreign tourists, especially from the Asian market.
