IN MAY 2017, THE CONSTRUCTION WORKS DECREASED BY 16.7% COMPARED TO MAY 2016

Compared to the previous month, in May 2017, the volume of construction works increased, as gross series, by 10.6% and decreased as adjusted series according to the number of working days by 1.3%.

Compared to the corresponding month of the previous year, the volume of construction works decreased, both as gross series and as adjusted series according to the number of working days and to seasonality by 16.7% and by 13.1%, respectively.

Compared to the period 1.I-31.V.2016, in the period 1.I - 31.V.2017, the volume of construction works decreased both as gross series and as adjusted series according to the number of working days and to seasonality by 8.6% and by 8.9%, respectively.
The volume of construction works declined in May both as gross series by 16.7 percent and as adjusted series by the number of working days and seasonality by 13.1 percent, and compared to April 2017 it declined by 10.6 percent as gross series and by 1.3 percent as adjusted series by the number of working days and seasonality, according to the data released by the National Institute of Statistics (INS) on Thursday.
The construction sector also declined in the first five months of 2017, when the volume of works dropped compared to the similar period of 2016, namely by 8.6 pct as gross series and by 8.9 pct as adjusted series by the number of working days and seasonality.
According to the INS, in May 2017 compared to May 2016, the volume of construction works declined as gross series by 16.7 pct. By structure elements, declines were recorded in all structure elements as follows: capital repairs works by 47.7 pct, maintenance and current repairs works by 28.4 pct and new construction works by 4.6 pct.
By construction objects, the volume of construction works declined in engineering works by 31.6 pct and non-residential buildings by 20.5 pct. Increases were recorded in residential buildings by 48.4 pct.
The volume of construction works decreased, as adjusted series by the number of working days and seasonality by 13.1 pct. By structure elements, drops were recorded in capital repairs works by 46.0 pct, maintenance and current repairs works by 26.6 pct and new construction works by 3.8 pct.
By construction objects, the volume of construction works declined in engineering works by 32.1 pct and non-residential buildings by 19.7 pct. Increases were recorded in residential buildings by 51.6 pct.
In May 2017 compared to April 2017, the volume of construction works increased as gross series by 10.6 pct, an increase highlighted in all structure elements, such as: maintenance and current repairs works by 26.4 pct, capital repairs works by 18.1 pct and new construction works by 5.6 pct.
By construction objects, the volume of construction works increased in engineering works by 17.7 pct and non-residential buildings by 10.8 pct. Declines were recorded in residential buildings by 0.6 pct.
The volume of construction works, as adjusted series by the number of working days and seasonality declined overall by 1.3 pct, a drop highlighted in new construction works and capital repairs works (by 5.8 pct each). Maintenance and current repairs works increased by 7.0 pct.
By construction objects, the volume of construction works declined in residential buildings by 5.6 pct and engineering works by 1.2 pct, while in non-residential buildings it increased by 3.8 pct.
In the first five months of 2017, compared to the similar period of 2016, the volume of construction works declined overall as gross series by 8.6 pct. By structure elements declines were recorded in capital repairs works by 29.5 pct and maintenance and current repairs works by 25.8 pct. New construction works increased by 2.1 pct.
By construction objects, declines were recorded in engineering works by 29.0 pct and non-residential buildings by 12.1 pct. In residential buildings increases by 67.2 pct have been recorded.
The volume of construction works, as adjusted series by the number of working days and seasonality declined overall by 8.9 pct. By structure elements declines were recorded in capital repairs works by 27.3 pct and maintenance and current repairs works by 23.8 pct.
New construction works recorded an increase by 2.0 pct, while the volume of construction works in residential buildings increased by 53.5 pct.
By construction objects, the volume of construction works declined in engineering works by 26.3 pct and non-residential buildings by 12.6 pct.
