Iohannis to participate in the NATO summit due in Brussels on 25 May
Romania's President Klaus Iohannis will participate in the NATO summit due in Brussels on 25 May, on Tuesday announced the President's spokeswoman, Madalina Dobrovolschi, at the Cotroceni presidential Palace.
"On the occasion of the NATO summit, the new headquarters of the North-Atlantic Alliance in Brussels will be inaugurated, and naturally, it will be an opportunity for bilateral talks among the allied countries' heads of states and governments. It will also be an occasion to emphasise the values the North-Atlantic Alliance is built on: unity, solidarity, cohesion among the states," said Dobrovolschi.
She specified that it is for the first time that such a summit is attended by two heads of state, the US President, Donald Trump and the President of France, Emmanuel Macron.
Dobrovolschi mentioned that the topics to be addressed are connected to the strengthening of the transatlantic relationship, concomitantly with a balance of the defence efforts that presume the equitable sharing of tasks and responsibilities among the allies, with an accent on the Defence financing sector.
She also said that the reunion is a proper context for an analysis of the decisions' implementation degree made last year at the NATO summit in Warsaw, Poland.
