Ion Tiriac, the wealthiest Romanian climbs 49 positions in Forbes top
Ion Tiriac is the only Romanian included in the latest edition of billionaires’ top, released on Tuesday by the American magazine Forbes, with a fortune of 1.2 billion dollars, which ranks him 1,818th in the world.
Last year Tiriac ranked 1,867th in top Forbes last year with the same fortune of 1.2 billion dollars.
According to AFP, there are no changes in the top of the wealthiest people in the world, Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon, is still the richest man in the world, before Bill Gates and Warren Buffett, while Mark Zuckerberg lost three positions and Michael Bloomberg won two positions.
According to the annual top released o Tuesday by Forbes, the wealth of Jeff Bezos, 55, increased by 19 billion dollars in the past year, to reach 131 billion lei. Bezos increased the advantage that separates him from Bill Gates, whose fortune went up to 96.5 billion dollars, to 90 billion dollars, last year.
He is followed by Warren Buffett, with a wealth of 82.5 billion dollars, on the drop by 1.5 billion dollars and Frenchman Bernard Arnault, the president of the French group LVMH, the richest man in Europe.
The Americans continue to dominate the top with 14 of the first 20 billionaires. France has two representatives: Bernard Arnault and Francoise Bettencourt-Meyers, the heiress of L’Oreal, who ranks 15th and is the only woman among the first 20 richest people of the world.
Among the first 20 billionaires there is also the Indian Mukesh Ambani, the president of Reliance Industries, 13th, and the Chinese Ma Huateng, the president of the Internet group Tencent, ranking 20th.
Forbes points out that a record number of 994 people included on the list of the wealthiest persons in the world have a smaller wealth than last year.
