PM Dancila to pay working visit in Brussels, Thursday and Friday, to meet Timmermans, Barnier
Prime Minister Viorica Dancila announced on Wednesday and Thursday that she will have a working visit in Brussels where she will participate in two events dedicated to equal opportunities and women's rights promotion and will meet with senior European officials, the first Vice-President of the European Commission, Frans Timmermans, and Chief Negotiator for Brexit Michel Barnier.
"For the next two days, I will be on a working visit to Brussels to participate in two important events dedicated to equal opportunities and the promotion of women's rights. The first, the European Women's Council, is organized by the European Women's Alliance and is taking place ahead of the Council of the European Union meetings This year's edition of the European Council of Women takes place in partnership with the Romanian Presidency of the Council of the EU and with the Ladies Vice-Presidents of the European Parliament. The debate is devoted to a better representation of women in politics as well as the promotion of women in leadership positions," Viorica Dancita said on Tuesday in the opening of the government sitting.
The head of the Executive said that the second event will be organized by the Permanent Representation of Romania to the European Union under the aegis of the Romanian Presidency of the Council of the EU and is also devoted to gender equality.
"I will also have bilateral meetings with representatives of European institutions, including First Vice-President of the European Commission, Frans Timmermans, and Chief Negotiator for Brexit Michel Barnier," Viorica Dancila added.
The prime minister said that the first meeting of the Environment Council, chaired by ministers Gratiela Gavrilescu and Ioan Denes, is taking place in Brussels on Tuesday.
"The discussion will focus on sustainable investments, in compliance with the environmental protection rules and intelligent use of natural resources," premier Dancila explained.
The prime minister added that Thursday and Friday, also in Brussels, the Justice and Home Affairs Council meeting, headed by Ministers Carmen Dan and Tudorel Toader, will be held.
"On the agenda of the talks will be important topics regarding the European cooperation in the field of justice and border security. The European Common Asylum System, the EU's response to the issue of migration and terrorism will also be discussed." Dancila added.
