Labor Minister announces 5 pct pension rise as of Jan 1, 2015

Pensions will rise five percent beginning with January 2015, Minister of Labor, Family, Social Protection and the Elderly Rovana Plumb announced on Thursday in Cluj-Napoca.

Rovana Plumb said that Labor Ministry and of Finance Ministry representatives are working together on the necessary regulations to increase small pensions, a measure which could also come into effect next year. According to the Minister, all actions related to pensions are part of a package of remedial measures whereby the Government wants to correct the unjust decisions taken by the Emil Boc Cabinet.

'We will continue with the remedial measures, but under strict observance of the law, so that beginning with January 1, 2015 pensions be raised as per the law by 5 percent. Let me tell you that we will also consider rising small pensions beginning with 2015. We are now working on this with the Finance Ministry,' Rovana Plumb told a press conference.
