Minister Dragu: There is the recommendation of the IMF to postpone the introduction of new measures for fiscal relaxation
The decision of the authorities takes into account or not the recommendation of the IMF experts regarding the postponement of the introduction starting with 1 January 2017 of the new measures for fiscal relaxation included in the Fiscal Code, among which is the reduction of the tax for special constructions – depending on the way in which 2016 is from the point of view of the budgetary execution and collections, stated on Friday the minister of public finances Anca Dragu at Realitatea TV.
Anca Dragu said that, on the basis of the fact that Romania is a member state of the International Monetary Fund it has annual consultations with the experts of this institution with regards to their own economic situation.
According to her, the budgetary collections in the first quarter of the year are with 6% higher than in the programme for this period and the VAT collections increased with almost 10% according to the preliminary data.
IMF recommends to Romania the reduction of the budgetary deficit for cash at 2.5% of the GDP this year, 2% in 2017 and 1.5% in 2018 and draws attention that, in order to reach these objectives, especially for next year, they should postpone the measures for fiscal relaxation which should become valid in 2017.
Asked if the Ciolos government will keep the public private partnership as a method for implementation of the public projects, the minister of finances answered positively, as the need for investments is very big in Romania and the financing sources and implementation should be diversified.
