Ombudsman works on intimation about OUG 92 on laws of justice
The Ombudsman announced on Thursday, that he decided to request additional data from the government of Romania and the Justice Ministry about intimations of unconstitutionality related to OUG 92 on the laws of justice, invoking as reason the complexity of petitions sent by Save Romania Union (USR), National Liberal party (PNL) and General Prosecutor (PG).
“The Ombudsman requests additional data to the government of Romania and Justice Ministry about aspects pointed out in memoirs about the unconstitutionality of OUG 92/2018. Arguments developed in intimations received are examined by employees of the Constitutional Office by reporting to laws of the Constitutional Court, European Court of Human Rights, the High Court of Justice. Considering the complexity of the aspects presented in intimations, the Ombudsman decided to request additional data,” the Ombudsman informs in a press release.
USR, PNL, the Prosecution of the High Court of Justice, as well as many citizens requested the Ombudsman to directly inform the Constitutional Court about the exception of unconstitutionality of OUG 92/2018.
On the other hand, liberal senator Iulia Scantei, declared on Thursday, that she would ask party leaders to begin parliamentary procedure to revoke Victor Ciorbea from the position of Ombudsman because he went on vacation without delegating his attributions to someone else.
Ciorbea said on Wednesday, that intimations about OUG 92 were being analysed by the institution.
