PM Ciolacu:Government to assume responsibility by end of September
By the end of the month, the Government will assume responsibility for the package of fiscal and budget measures, prime minister Ciolacu said Tuesday in a press statement.
"By the end of the month we will finish the whole circuit, including the assumption of responsibility in Parliament. And let's see whether there some additional ordinances are needed," Ciolacu said.
The legislative package will not contain austerity measures, but the prime minister stressed that public service employees with very high salaries cannot benefit from holiday vouchers. Thus, only those with a net income of less than 8,000 RON will receive holiday vouchers.
He mentioned that the package of measures to combat tax evasion will be implemented first, followed by the package on the reform of the administrative system, under discussion with representatives of the central and local administration, as well as with the social partners, and finally by the tax package, so that Romania will be sustainable this year, but also in the coming years, until Romania comes up with a tax reform that is included in the National Recovery and Resilience Plan as a milestone.
Marcel Ciolacu offered assurances that the package will be publicly transparent and will not be adopted "at night, stealthily".
"There will be a minimum of 24 hours in which amendments are submitted in Parliament. It will respect the law and will be transparent, because it will go through the Romanian Government, where it has to receive approvals. Everything will be as transparent as possible and with the banks, you will see in two or three days," Ciolacu added.
