PM Ciuca, meeting with American congressmen,discussions about security situation and aid for Ukrainian refugees
Prime Minister Nicolae Ciuca had a meeting on Thursday with a group of American congressmen, led by Mike Quigley, member of the Chamber of Representatives, who, before arriving in Romania, visited Poland and Slovakia, the topics of discussion being the security situation and the support that Romania needs in the future in order to ensure its defence and humanitarian aid for Ukrainian refugees.
According to a Government press release, another aspect was about evaluating Romania in regards to the Ukrainian situation and the possible military evolutions in the field.
"Discussions were focused upon the security situations, of the support that Romania needs in order to ensure its defence and humanitarian aid offered to Ukrainian refugees that arrived in our country. Another aspect was evaluating Romania in regards to the situation in Ukraine and possible military evolutions in the field. Mike Quigley, member of the Chamber of Representatives, as well as his colleagues, congratulated Romania and Prime Minister Nicolae Ciuca for all the effort made since the beginning of the crisis, for the support offered to Ukraine and managing the wave of refugees. The three representatives of the US Congress appreciated the solidarity and hospitality of Romanians manifested in the relation with Ukrainian refugees who were forced to leave their country. Furthermore, the support granted to the Ukrainian citizens that stayed to fight for their country was also appreciated, humanitarian aid offered as food, water, medicine, emergency medical treatment and fuel," the press release reads.
PM Ciuca, in turn, thanked the support granted by the United States in equipping and training Romanian armed forces.
Furthermore, the PM mentioned the need of ensuring security in the Black Sea and the southern part NATO's Eastern flank, as well as a permanent presence of American troops, in a sufficient number, in order to ensure determent and defence and highlighted the allied solidarity in report to the states in the Eastern flank.
