PM Tudose had a working meeting with US ambassador Hans Klemm

Prime Minister Mihai Tudose had on Monday at the Victoria Governmental Palace a mutually agreed working meeting with US ambassador Hans Klemm, the Government says in a press statement.

Tudose gave assurances that the Romanian Government will continue the strategic partnership with the US and underscored that he wanted the first meeting with a foreign diplomat to be with the US ambassador, precisely to convey a strong message.

"The two decades of strategic partnership between Romania and the US represent a guarantee of the strong relation between our countries, a relation that must be continued and consolidated. I am positive that we have the potential to develop the bilateral relation. At the same time, you can rest assured that we'll continue to be a trustworthy partner of the US in this part of Europe and that we have the capacity to create an attractive environment for investors," PM Tudose said at the meeting with the US ambassador.

An important point of the discussions was how Romania's two-percent of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) defence spending will relaunch defence cooperation between Romania and the US based on new grounds.

"The discussions focused on the need to consolidate the bilateral economic ties, with the head of government and the US ambassador agreeing that their level doesn't reflect the exceptional stage of the political-military relations. Ambassador Hans Kelmm underscored that, after the latest Romanian-US high-level meeting, Romania's credibility at the White House has enhanced, which will also reflect in the US investors' confidence in the Romanian economy," the statement reads.

PM Tudose in November will have a meeting with potential US investors in Romania, prepared by the Government together with the US Embassy.

"Romania offers a friendly business environment. I would like to introduce the US investors to the business opportunities in our country and assure them that, in my capacity as prime minister, I understand that it takes stability and predictability to develop business," the PM underscored.
