President Iohannis: I welcome President Biden's explicit announcement on supplementing US troops in Romania
President Klaus Iohannis welcomes the announcement made by his American counterpart, Joe Biden, regarding the increase of the American military presence in Romania, on the eastern flank of NATO, "if the security situation deteriorates."
"I welcome the explicit announcement of President Joe Biden to increase the US military presence in Romania, on the Eastern Flank, if the security situation deteriorates further. RO-US Strategic Partnership and NATO solidarity are very strong," Iohannis wrote on Twitter, on Thursday.
US President Joe Biden told a press conference on Wednesday that the US military presence in Poland and Romania will be increased.
We will effectively increase the military presence in Poland, in Romania, (...) because we have a sacred obligation under Article 5 to defend these countries. They are part of NATO. We do not have this obligation in relation to Ukraine, although we are very concerned about what is happening there, said Biden.
