President Iohannis met EBRD President Suma Chakrabarti
President Klaus Iohannis received on Monday a delegation of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development headed by EBRD President Suma Chakrabarti.
The President invited the bank "to contribute to the improvement of Romania's investment climate, not just through its financial support, but also with expertise and professional consultancy (...) as Romania still has to implement several economic reforms," the Presidential Administration informed in a release.
The EBRD officials described the most significant economic evolutions and the perspectives of investment on a national and regional level, and the bank's priorities in its relations with Romania. They voiced their confidence in an increase of private investments "as investors grow more confident in the Government's economic policies and in Romania's general economic trend."
"Although a certain decrease of financing has been noted lately, there was confidence about the EBRD playing a pro-active role in Romania, especially in key sectors and fields, such as the financing of state-owned companies included in structural reform programmes, the support to SMEs, the increase of the European funds usage rate, the encouragement of the capital market and the entrepreneurial environment development," the aforementioned release reads.
The EBRD president will continue his visit to Romania on Tuesday; he is to meet Romanian officials and business partners.
