President Klaus Iohannis welcomed French Ambassador, Michele Ramis and Ambassador of Ukraine, Oleksandr Bankov
President Klaus Iohannis welcomed on Thursday at the Cotroceni Presidential Palace, Ambassador Agreed of the French Republic to Romania Michele Ramis and Ambassador Agreed of Ukraine to Romania Oleksandr Bankov, the Presidential Administration informs.
On the occasion of the meeting with Michele Ramis, the head of state expressed confidence that the "Strategic Partnership between Romania and France, already on a high level of excellency, will continue to develop, including through maintaining the dynamics of political contacts and, in this regard, the President encouraged the new French Ambassador to actively get involved," the quoted source reveals.
In this context, Romania's President evoked the extremely good meeting he had with France's President Emmanuel Macron, on the sidelines of the European Council meeting on 22 and 23 June, in Brussels, where the commitment of both states towards the deepening of the cooperation on a bilateral and European level was reconfirmed.
President Iohannis and Ambassador Michele Ramis tackled also the prospects of developing the bilateral economic collaboration and the stage of preparations for the Romanian-French 2018-2019 Cultural Season. Furthermore, Romania's President conveyed to the French Ambassador the interest for a tight cooperation on aspects on the European agenda, for developing the European programme in which our country wants to get actively involve alongside France, as well as for the prospect of Romania exercising the rotating Presidency of the Council of the EU.
Ambassador Ramis revealed that it's an honour for him to represent France in Romania and added he is impressed with the level of the Strategic Partnership, friendship and confidence between the two countries, following to get involved in deepening the Partnership, including by organising this year the visit of France's President, but also in bilateral and European projects of mutual interest, as well as in those which relate to the two states belonging to the Francophony, the Presidential Administration reveals.
On the occasion of meeting Ambassador of Ukraine Oleksandr Bankov, President Klaus Iohannis hailed the ascending course of the bilateral relations and voiced interest for the concretization of objectives mutually established with President Petro Porosenko.
Romania's President also gave assurances regarding the further support of our country for Ukraine, including in the effort to implement reforms. Ambassador Bankov underscored, in his turn, the objective of developing the bilateral relations, revealing that Ukraine sees Romania not just as a neighbouring country, but as a partner and friend, thanking for the support that Romania grants to his country in this historic stage, a support that is highly appreciated in Kiev," the Presidential Administration mentions.
