Reactor 1 at Cernavoda halted due to strong winds
Reactor 1 of Cernavoda Nuclear Power Station was stopped on Monday morning due to severe weather conditions affecting the power transmission system, Secretary of State in the Ministry of Economy Rodin Traicu told AGERPRES.
According to the quoted source, Reactor 1 will be restarted within 36 hours.The two units of Cernavoda nuclear power station produced, in the first eight months of 2012, an amount of 7.433 million MWh of electricity, of which 6.848 million MWh were delivered to the National Power Grid, according to data published on the Nuclearelectrica website.
Unit 1 produced, in the first eight months of 2012, approximately 3.38 million MWh and delivered 4,053 million MWh, registering an average capacity factor of 82.06 percent and Unit 2 produced 4.053 million MWh and delivered 3.743 million MWh, with an average capacity factor of 98.5 percent.
The National Meteorology Administration / ANM / issued, on Monday, three advisories of strong wind falling within Code Yellow and Code Orange categories, valid for southern and eastern Muntenia, Dobrogea and, on extensive areas, in Moldova.
For Dobrogea area, meteorologists have issued a Code orange advisory of strong winds, with gusts reaching and exceeding 90 km / h , valid between 8:10 to 11:10 local time.
