Romania and the Republic of Serbia, a new agreement for cooperation in the domain of sustainable management of transborderly waters
The ministry of waters and forests, Ioan Denes and the minister of agriculture, forestry and waters management in the Republic of Serbia Branislav Nedimovic, signed on Wednesday a new agreement between the government of Romania and the government of the Republic of Serbia regarding cooperation in the domain of sustainable management of transborderly waters at the event being present the ambassador of the Republic of Serbia in Romania, Branko Brankovic.
According to a press release of the ministry of waters and forestry (MAP) the aim of this agreement is cooperation in the domain of sustainable waters management of the transborderly waters for the solution of all aspections for which both parties are interested or one of the parties only, as well as the establishment of the organizational conditions, institutional and economic for cooperation.
The two countries will exchange information in the domains which are part of the agreement, they will have consultations and joint activities for sustainable management of the transborderly waters and will offer mutual help during the hydrological phenomena or during the accidental pollution of the water resources, to avoid danger and re-establish the situation.
Similarly, with the purpose of implementation of the objective and in accordance with the provisions of the cooperation agreement there is set up the Romanian-Serbian commission for the sustainable management of transborderly waters.
MAP mentions that, until that date, the collaboration between the two countries has been made on the basis of the agreement signed on 7 April 1955 in Bucharest, respectively ‘ The agreement between the People’s Republic of Romania and the Republic of Yugoslavia on hydro-technical issues on the hydro-technical systems and the waters at the border and crossing the state borders’.
