Romania has the second largest gap between rich and poor income out of seven countries in the EU

In Romania there is the second largest gap between the income of rich and poor, 20% of the richest people and the poorest 20% citizens out of seven countries in the EU, according to a infographic of the Social Monitor, a project of Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung Romania.

In Romania the rate of income between the richest 20% and the poorest 20% is at present 7.1, according to the quoted analysis, which used statistics from the Eurostat basis.The document evaluates the differences in the rates of inequality of income in Romania, Bulgaria, Sweden, Germany, Poland, Spain and Greece. Out of the seven analysed countries, Bulgaria is the country with the highest rate of inequality of the incomes between the 20% richest and the poorest 20% with an indicator of 8.1.

The gap between poor and rich in Romania  has increased over the last year when it was 7, but it decreased against 2018 when it was 7.2 points. In the extended region where Romania is, Poland has a gap of income of .3, similar to that of Sweden and lower than that of Romania – 7.1

In Spain, state in Western Europe, the rate of inequality between rich and poor income is very high this year, 5.9 according to the analysis made by the Social Monitor. As regards the analysis on sexes, the rate between the average of the highest 20% between the incomes and the average of the lowest 20% of incomes was kept approximately constant over the last years, according to the document.
