Romania purchases 1.2 billion euros worth of medical devices, equipment to fight against COVID-19 pandemic
Deputy Prime Minister Raluca Turcan said on Thursday that the government had purchased approximately 1.2 billion euros worth of medical equipment and devices to fight against the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
"So far, to combat the pandemic, we have invested 1.2 billion euros in the purchase of medical equipment and unlocked the construction of the three regional hospitals of about 2,500 beds, worth 1.16 billion euros," said Turcan.
The deputy prime minister participated in the signing of a project between the Ministry of European Funds and the Fundeni Clinical Institute for the prevention of colorectal cancer.
The project signed on Thursday adds up to three others also funded by European funds for various types of cancer.
According to her, Minister of European Funds Marcel Bolos has fed up 600 billion euros of European funds "that were at risk of being lost" and this way the total absorption rate since the last months of last year has reached 4.1 billion euros.
