Romania's Centre Region have reported exports in excess of 3.4 billion euros in the first five months of 2016

The counties making up Romania's Centre Region have reported exports in excess of 3.4 billion euros in the first five months of 2016, up 8.1 percent from the first five months of the year before, according to data released on Wednesday by the Alba Regional Statistics Office. 

Among the member counties, Brasov generated 35.5 percent of the tolat exports in January - May, 2016. It was followed by the counties of Sibiu, 32.4 percent; Alba, 12.8 percent; Mures, 12 percent; Covasna, 3.7 percent and Harghita, 3.6 percent. 

Imports coming into the Centre Region over the same period exceeded 3 billion euros, up 11.5 percent from the similar period a year before. 

Brasov County reported the highest value of such imports, with 36.9 percent of the total imports going to it. Covasna County reported the lowest level of such imports, just 3.8 percent of total. 

The region's trade balance recorded a surplus of more than 385.5 million euros. Surpluses were recorded in the counties of Sibiu, Alba, Brasov and Covasna, while the counties of Mures and Harghita reported deficits. 

May 2016 exports in the Centre Region stood at nearly 680 million euros, down 2.6 percent from April 2016, and up 8.3 percent from May 2015. May 2016 imports stood at nearly 639 million euros, up 1.1 percent on a monthly basis and 18.9 percent y-o-y.
