Romania will receive cohesion funds of 27 billion euros in 2021-2027
Romania has funds of 27,203 billion euros allocated from the European budget 2021-2027 from the cohesion policy, according to proposals published by the European Commission on Tuesday.
Early this month, the European Commission presented, for the first time in history, its proposal for the new long term EU budget, both for current prices and constant prices in 2018. On Tuesday, the Commission published all relevant figures for various programs of expenses, both in current prices and in constant 2018 prices.
Cohesion funds will be increased for Italy and other member states in southern Europe affected by the economic crisis and immigrants. At the same time financing will be reduced for poorer areas in Eastern EU states.
According to EU sources, Poland can expect a 23% reduction of cohesion funds while a 24% drop is considered for Hungary. In exchange, Italy can expect a 6% increase.
“We suggest a cohesion policy for all regions, which should not leave anyone behind. We have improved flexibility of these policies to adapt it to new priorities and to increase protection for EU citizens. We have simplified norms and this will be beneficial to all, from small enterprises to entrepreneurs and schools and hospitals, which will receive funds easier,”said the commissioner for regional policy, Corina Cretu.
