Romanian Waters: the water resources of Romania relatively poor and unequally distributed
The water resources of Romania are relatively poor and unequally distributed in time and space, with a total of 134.6 billion cubic metres, but only 38.34 billion cubicmetres represent the usable resource, according to the data of the National Administration ‘Romanian Waters’which show that investments in infrastructure for flooding defence should be accelerated.To increase the usable resources, the specialists of ‘Romanian Waters’ rethought the operation of existing hydro-technical works so that, at present, the majority of the hydro-technical works have a multiple public usage.
At present, the specialists of ‘Romanian Waters’ consider the proposal for the planning of water catchment areas, including by the use of new reservoirs, which have the role of water tanks.
With their help, the specialists of ‘Romanian Waters’ will manage to optimize the use of water resources from the quantity point of view, both for the water supply for the population, and for the diminution of the flood-waves in case of flooding as well as for the production of electricity.
