Romanians between ages 35 and 44 want to start their own companies most, mainly in IT
Romanians between the ages of 35 and 44 are at the top of the list when it comes to launching new companies in 2023, especially in the IT sector, according to a specialized analysis published on Friday.
The data analyzed by StartCo, a platform specialized in online company establishment and management services, reveals that Bucharest continues to be a central hub for start-ups, closely followed by Cluj-Napoca and other regional cities.
According to the quoted source, 30% of the newly established natural legal persons (PFA)s between January and October 2023 are in the technology area, and over a quarter (26.6%) are with an IT profile.
Other fields offering opportunities for starting a business are: Online trade (20.58% of newly established companies and 9.16% of PFAs), Marketing & Consulting (11.32% of new businesses and 12.79% of PFAs) and Alternative Education (7.54% of the newly established PFAs).
Most of the start-ups opened in 2023 through StartCo (39.46%) were registered in Bucharest, while Cluj-Napoca claimed the title of regional leader, with a share of 10.75% , with a small difference compared to the cumulative percentage for three other important cities, respectively: 12.3% of the new businesses have their headquarters in Iasi, Timisoara or Brasov.
The Romanians' appetite to have their own business is highest in the 35-44 age range (27.5%), followed by the 45-54 segment (24%), those between 25 and 34 years old (20%), and between 18 and 24 years old (11%).
StartCo, the platform through which thousands of start-ups have been opened in Romania to date, also offers services for issuing invoices and online accounting.
