Romanians continue to book one way plane tickets for Great Britain, Spain and Germany
Romanians continued to book plane tickets especially for Great Britain, Spain, Germany and France, according to a study made by Vola.ro, an online travel agency in Romania.
According to data on the the dedicated website, September 2020 showed signs of returning to an appetite to traveling, especially for destinations where there are large Romanian communities. Plane tickets for Germany, France, Spain and Great Britain were bought to a lower extent than in past years.
This year, over 75%-80% of all flights were for one way flights, compared to 2019, when the share of this kind of travel was under 50%.According to the source, about half of million Romanians work or study in Great Britain, a reason why this destination remains in the top of destinations in demand on Vola.ro website. In September, Romanians booked plane tickets to Great Britain at prices 18% lower than last year, the average price being 161 euros for return flights, while in October prices were 24% lower – 127 euros for return flights.
On the other hand, Romanians continued to travel and buy plane tickets for Italy, so that plane tickets recorded a 30% increase of return tickets, exceeding 300 euros in October.
“France and Germany are in a similar situation. Romanians can book tickets at the lowest prices if they book them 2-3 weeks before leaving. For instance, a Bucharest-Rome return ticket cost a little over 60 euros in December 13-17. The preference for last minute plane tickets had as effect a delay in the decision to travel during holidays. Compared to last year, bookings during Christmas and New Year are fewer at this moment,” representatives of the online travel agency say.
Last year, Vola.ro recorded a business figure of 10.6 million euros, at a transaction volume of 71 million euros.
