SIREN 2023 Romanian Energy Symposium to unfold September 11-13 in Bucharest

The Romanian Energy Symposium - SIREN 2023, with the theme "Romania continues the transition to a safe, climate-neutral and consumer-centric energy system", will be organised, September 11 to 13, 2023, in Bucharest by the Romanian National Committee of the World Energy Council (RNC-WEC) under the auspices of the Ministry of Energy.

SIREN 2023 is designed exclusively to energy and the Romanian business community, and the event will be attended by economic and political decision-makers and experts who will debate the novelties and opportunities in Romania's energy sector, as well as challenges in the current regional state of play.

"This is the second edition of the Romanian Energy Symposium - SIREN. The event will take place in a period that witnesses a series of great upheavals at the European level, amplified also by the war on our country's border, as world energy has been in a transition process for over 10 years, with a series of inherent difficulties. The convulsions triggered in the world energy field in the fall of 2021, amplified by Russia's aggression against Ukraine, make stimulating relevant debates, focused on objectivity, quality, coherence and construction all the more necessary. I am convinced that the success of our event will result from the diversity and quality of ideas advanced by well-known specialists, who can offer potential solutions to decision-makers for effective actions, so that we can have safe, sustainable, clean and affordable energy," said RNC-WEC Chairman Dan Ioan Gheorghiu.

The symposium will be organised in physical format on Monday, September 11, and Tuesday, September 12, and the scientific communications sessions on Wednesday, September 13, will take place virtually only on the Zoom platform.

SIREN 2023 has four main themes: energy transition strategies and policies; energy investment programmes; new energy; commercial policies, market and consumers.

The Romanian National Committee of the World Energy Council (RNC-WEC) is a non-governmental association and the main multi-energy organisation in Romania, a founding member of the World Energy Council since 1924.

The Romanian Energy Symposium - SIREN takes place every two years, in odd years, starting from 2021, and is organised by the Romanian National Committee Association of the World Energy Council (RNC-WEC).

The World Energy Council (WEC) is the world's oldest independent and impartial community of energy leaders and practitioners. Formed in 1923, it has convened diverse interests from across the full energy ecosystem for a century, and today has over 3,000 member organisations and a presence in nearly 100 countries. Its network draws from governments, private and state corporations, academia and civil society, as well as current and future energy leaders.
