Sofianu (EY Romania): European lowest salary could be 60% of average salary for every member state
The lowest European salary is a new , hot concept much talked about in EU and it could be 605 of the average salary for each member state, Claudia Sofianu, Partner, leader of income tax and social contribution division, EY Romania, at the Annual Fiscality Conference EY Romania, on Tuesday.
“Last year, former EC vicepresident foresaw a 60% reference frame of the average salary in every member state. In the context of the new EC presidency and the statements of the new commissioner for labour force occupation, Nicolas Schmit, this concept seems to be more and more anchored in the EC engagement to stop labour force exodus from east to west,” Claudia Sofianu said.
According to the EY Romania representative the concept is important for employers, since Romania has been under this reference frame for several years.
She pointed out that is a simple calculation is made in November 2019, INS reported a net average salary of 3,200 lei per month, and 60% of this salary would be a few hundred lei over the present one.
