Statistics: The drop in industry leads to -10.5% energy consumption
The end consumption of energy dropped last year by 10.5% as compared to 2008, at 22.387 million tons equivalent petrol (tep) mainly due to the reduction by 27.5% of the consumption in industry, including constructions, and the energy resources diminished by 11.3% according to INS. Significant reductions were recorded in the chemical industry and metallurgical industry, of 20% and 37.1% respectively was shown in a press release of the INS
The end consumption in transports and population was kept relatively constant while the consumption in other economy areas recorded drops ( -6.2%) against 2008. In 2009, the domestic gross consumption was 1,599 kg equivalent petrol, by 13.3% less than that recorded in 2008. The production of primary energy in 2009 of 28 million tep, although slightly decreasing against last year ( -2.6%) increased significantly as share in the total of energy resources, reaching 64% against the level of 58.3% of 2008.
At the same time, the available energy resources were 43.8 tep, dropping by 5.59 million tep ( -11.3%) against 2008, as a result of the reduction of electricity imports and energy users by 31.2%. The export of energy ( including bunkarage) of 4.65 million tep dropped against 2008 by 17.4% within the same gasoline and diesel export being almost 65%.
