Study: The young people of the Z generation are the most satisfied with the working conditions

The majority (82%) of the young people between 18 and 24 (the Z generation post –millenials) state they are satisfied and very satisfied by the place and conditions offered in the office buildings where they work, at the other end being the young people of 25 – 34 ( the Y generation) who present the lowest percentage of people satisfied with the working conditions, respective 58%.

According  to the study dedicated to the working environment in the office spaces in the Capital city, the generation of the seniors (50.-64_ is satisfied as 73% and the category of people aged between 39 – 49 ( the X generation) was classified third  with 63% of the people who are satisfied by the conditions at the working places.

‘The generation Y (25 -34) who unitl 2020 will have a share of 50% of the global working force presents the least percentage of people relatively satisfied or very satisfied with the present conditions in the office spaces where they work 58% of the 35% of the interviewed are relatively satisfied, and only 23% are very satisfied. The young people belonging to generation Y are the best and as regards the number of the percentage of people relatively unsatisfied with 18% of the interviewed belonging to the generation X said they were extremely dissatisfied followed by generation Y with 7%’ shows CBRE the operator of the study.

Among the conclusions is that that over 50% of the interviewees belonging to evety age group spend between 30 and 60 minutes on the way to work. As regards the type of working space, the young generation opt for individual space, 43% of the young people aged between 18 and 24 and 51% of the category of 25-34 while 56% of the interviewees of the x generation stated their preference for space divided into departments, similar to the seniors,with 50% of the options.

‘The improvement of the working space has importance on the quality of the new projects of offices, and the satisfaction and productivity of the employees. For us, what matters is to contribute to the evolution of the market of work spaces, which will lead to professional progress and the development of the business of the companies, everything meaning economic growth’ stated Mihai Paduroiu, head of advisory & transaction services of CBRE Romania.

At the level of division on different areas of Bucharest the young and very young generation (18-34) works especially in the western and northern part of the city, the X generation (35 – 49) in the western and central part, and almost half of the seniors who took part in the study in the central part of Bucharest.

Among the dissatisfactions mentioned by the majority of the interviewees are: the systems lacking heat, ventilation and air conditioning (40%) insufficient natural light (37%) as well as the too crowded space and the parking lots which are insufficient ( both 36%).

The balance between personal life and the time spent is put to value differently, depending on  the age category: the Z generation considers 68% that time for personal life is an extremely important criterion when choosing a work place, followed by the Y generation with 47%, the X generation with 51% and the generation of the seniors with 35%.
