Survey: A quarter of Romanians suffer from cold in their homes and do not have enough living space
One out of four households complain of insufficient space and cold in their homes and three out of four have at least a housing emergency, according to a survey made by IRSOP and presented by the Banks’ Association for Locative Domain in Romania- ABDLR.
“The Romanians’ houses are more and more affected by time and the increase of maintenance costs. Among urban population aged between 20 and 65, with stable income, 72% have at least a locative emergency,” said Petre Datculescu, the director of IRSOP, at a conference presenting the study.
According to the study, 59% of households have more than two locative emergencies, and one out of four households are facing problems of insufficient space and cold.
“One out of five households has problems with tightness and need consolidation against earthquakes. Between 12% and 16% of all urban households need replacements or major repairs,” the study shows.
In this context, “financing the increase of locative comfort is an emergency for social development, but household incomes are too small to cover it,” the authors of the study show.
