Sweden, the honor guest country of Bookfest International Book Fair 2017
Sweden, the honor guest country at this year's Bookfest International Book Fair (running May 24 - 28 at the Bucharest Romexpo exhibition complex) will be featuring over 20 events in its dedicated program, focusing on children's education and literature, gender equality, social inclusion and the promotion of diversity, a release informs.
Nine prestigious Swedish guests - writers, illustrators, editors and cultural managers - will attend not just the Bookfest happenings dedicated to literature and meetings with writers, but also a substantial series of events dedicated to professionals of the publishing industry.
"Of course, one of the most eagerly anticipated meetings in the program of the guest country is that with publisher Jacob Dalborg, CEO of Bonnierforforgsgrupp, one of the world's top media groups, that was founded in 1804. The Bonnier Group is currently operating in the United States of America, Germany, the UK and Eastern Europe, but also in many other countries, and has over 8,000 employees," the source said.
An event-meeting intended for all those interested in children's and youth books is that with Marten Sanden, chairman of the Swedish Academy of Children's Book Writers, one of Sweden's most famous publishers today.
A highlight of interest for those who want to know more about books for children and youth put out in Sweden, but also about book design, are the events having as guest multiple award-winner graphic designer and illustrator Stina Wirsen, who has a rich experience in children's illustration workshops.
Johannes Klenell, editor at one of Europe's oldest alternative comics magazines - Galago - is also on the list of the Swedish guests to Bookfest 2017.
According to the release, the scope of one of Sweden's Bookfest 2017 events goes beyond the specific public of the publishing industry, addressing cultural managers in Romania and all those interested in understanding how stories can become "success recipes in business projects" - this is the presentation of one of the world's most important theme parks: the Junibacken in Stockholm. "Created out of the desire to celebrate the spirit of children's book author and screenwriter Astrid Lindgren and inaugurated in 1996 by the royal family of Sweden, Junibacken hosts more than 1,500 performances annually. Presenting the project at Bookfest will be Romanian-born cultural manager and publisher Arina Stoenescu who, alongside the local public authorities, joined the team that plans to open such a theme park in Bucharest: 'Harap Alb, The House of Tales'," informs the release.
In addition to these events dedicated to professionals, Sweden's program features more than 10 events centered on literature, with high profile names of today's Swedish prose and poetry attending: Aris Fioretos, Majgull Axelsson, Cecilia Hansson or Athena Farrokhzad.
