Tezaur government securities issued in April have maturities of 1 and 3 years, interest rates of up to 5.8 pct

The Ministry of Finance announced on Friday that it is starting a new session of buying Tezaur government securities, starting from Monday, April 4, which have a face value of 1 RON, being in dematerialized form, with maturities of 1 and 3 years and annual interest rates of 4.8 pct and 5.8 pct.

"I thank the almost 48,000 Romanians who trusted the Tezaur government securities and invested over 2 billion RON in the first two issues this year. The amount represents a record since the launch of the programme. This confirms the appreciation of investors, who benefit both from the instruments available through this mechanism and from the advantages it offers to individuals. I am confident that the success of this affordable savings instrument, with non-taxable advantageous interest rates and without hidden costs, will be confirmed in the future", said the Finance minister Adrian Caciu.

Government securities can be purchased between 4 and 26 April 2022 online, only by individuals who are registered in the Private Virtual Space (SPV).

The interest is annual, payable on the terms set out in the prospectus. Also, the government securities issued under the Tezaur Programme are transferable and can be redeemed in advance. An investor may make one or more subscriptions within an issue. Investors have the possibility to cancel subscriptions already made only during the subscription period, by submitting an application.

Eligible are the individuals who have reached the age of 18 on the date of subscription. The revenues obtained from investing in the savings offer launched by the Ministry of Finance are non-taxable. The funds obtained by the Ministry of Finance as issuer, as a result of the issuance of government bonds, will be used to finance the budget deficit and to refinance the public debt.
