Virgil Popescu, after the meeting with the Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan: Romania supports the development of the Southern  Gas Corridor

 

Energy Minister Virgil Popescu said on Friday after meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Istanbul that in the current geopolitical and security context, the partnership is a priority and energy resources should not be used as blackmail weapons, and Romania supports the development of the Southern gas Corridor.

 

Together with vice premier – minister Sorin Grindeanu I had a meeting with the president of the Republic of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, wrote Virgil Popescu in a post.

 

The minister says that he focused on strenghtening cooperation in the domain of energy, in the Strategic Partnership between Romania and Turkey.

 

"In the current geopolitical and security context, partnership is a priority and energy resources must not be used as blackmail weapons. I told him that Romania supports the development of the Southern gas Corridor and we encourage the partnership between the two States to diversify supply routes," Virgil Popescu said.
