The 12th edition of the Romania - Israel Business Cooperation Forum, “Romania Gateway”, Bucharest
There is the Speech of H.E. Ambassador Dan Ben-Eliezer delivered at the 12th edition of the Romania - Israel Business Cooperation Forum, “Romania Gateway”, 25 March 2015, Bucharest:
“It is my pleasure to be here, today, at the opening of the 12th edition of the Romania - Israel Business Cooperation Forum, “Romania Gateway”. This unique venue gathers representatives of local ministries and public institutions as well as leading Romanian and Israeli companies in order to discuss new technologies and trends and to explore business opportunities.
Israel and Romania have had long-lasting and friendly relations supported by a large community of Israelis originating from Romania and by our strong community here. The collaboration between our countries is fruitful and encompasses different economic sectors.
Last June, the second round of intergovernmental meetings was held in Jerusalem, headed by our two Prime Ministers and attended by a significant number of ministers. One of the most important topics of these consultations was the strengthening of the cooperation between the Israeli Ministry of Communications and the Romanian Ministry for Information Society.
The ministers have agreed to enlarge and diversify the joint actions in the field of information and communications technologies (ICT) and to support the build-up of ties within the ICT community. Such actions would develop and foster the profitability and sustainable growth in global markets while creating increased productivity and competitiveness for the region.
Furthermore, the parties aimed at increasing cooperation in cyber security by combating cybercrime and expanding knowledge and expertise on this field. The desired outcome is to create an environment that will reduce the potential interferences to an acceptable level in terms of authenticity, integrity and availability of data or other damage that may occur to participants in cyberspace.
Israel has managed to realize significant achievements in diverse fields, such as the previously presented ones, by adding value through R&D and innovation. Thus, Israel has earned its worldwide reputation for providing leading solutions and continues to successfully partner with key world players.
Our country acknowledges Romania’s potential and seeks to embolden partnerships. The intensity of its market, its educated workforce, the developing infrastructure, the increased competitiveness and the seeking of new technologies from home and from abroad are strong points as well as evidence of will and potential. All these are coupled with Israeli strengths, such as innovation and flexibility, and provide a good basis for collaboration.
I believe that this forum is an important opportunity to promote business competition and enhance the trade between our countries. The organizer of this event, Globe Gateway, has been the source behind numerous successful events in Romania as well as in many other countries. This 12th edition of the forum reflects a continuous trust of the Israeli companies in the Romanian market and, moreover, the willingness to share their own experience in the areas of telecommunication, homeland security and emergency situations.”
