The Association of Online Shops estimates growth of 20% for the Black Friday sales
The Romanian Association of Online Shops (ARMO) estimates that this year edition of Black Friday will have an average growth of sales of 20% as compared to 2019
Although 2020 is the most complicated year from the social perspective, electronic trade registered increase as for two years, trend which the ARMO member shops anticipate for Black Friday as well, as for the period of Winter Festivities.
Over the last nine months, as a result of the context generated by pandemics, the consumers changed their buying habits and migrated towards the online environment, some for the first time. Once exposed to the diversity of services, products and better prices, they radically changed their perception connected to traditional commerce, so that 50%of the interviewees in the most ample study about digital behaviour of the society, Global Web Index confirmed that even after the crisis is over, they will opt for online shopping, while 40% decided to use digital payments.
The efforts of online shops, as well as the preference of the clients for this new experience are confirmed by the official statistics of the National Institute for Statistics (INS): private consumption (the main component of GDP) has increased constantly over the first nine months, both in the food sector (+5.8%) and in the non-food one (+3.9%). In September, the average growth is even more important. Consumers moved their travel budgets or holiday budget to investments for their own residence, from complete renovation to small furniture pieces, which could ease their telework process.
PayU Romania expects that this edition of Black Friday bring a spectacular increase of the online payments, at the level of the market being a trading of approximately 1.4 million operations, worth 764 million lei, more than the double of last year The estimates of the payments processor show increase of 65% of the value of the purchasing basket paid in installments, while half of the operations will be made with one-click payments.
Depending of the sector where they activate, the online shops expect growth from 20% (electro-IT) to 80% (fashion, home&deco and toys).
