The pensioners with  income 452.7 lei lower than that of employees, last year 

The pensioners were second after the employees at the level of income made monthly last year says the publication of the National Institute for Statistics (INS).

Thus,an employee had last year on average income of 1,316.9 monthly, followed by a pensioner with 864.23 lei and a self-employed worker with activities outside agriculture with 547.94 lei.They are followed by unemployed with 508.47 lei and farmers with 420.54 lei.

From the point of view of living environment  there were income of 1,245.82 lei on average per person in the urban environment and 701.96 lei in the rural one. As for regions, the distribution of the income shows that in the area Bucuresti –Ilfov there was the highest level of income with 1,559.2 lei/person and the lowest in the North-East with 732.93 lei.

From the point of view of monthly expenses they were on average 953.35 lei/person.

A household spent on average 48 lei for education last year, while for phone services – 1,088 lei the publication of the National  Institute  for Statistics says.

According to INS a  household used on average monthly 4.05 lei  for education and for phone services 90.71 lei.For electricity they used 94,06 lei for natural gas – 56 lei, thermal energy – 13.61 lei, sewage – 56.35 lei. As regards the health services in a month a household spent on average 26.26 lei and for sanitary-veterinary treatment of the pets – 0.46 lei.

For cultural and recreational services a household used – 7.46 lei, for personal care – 13.89 lei, for touristic services – 13.71 lei, radio-tv subscription – 23.95 lei, transport  services – 33.59 lei, gaming – 0.45 lei.

Only 30.2% of the households  in Romania  afforded last year to buy new clothes and 18.1% a week of holiday outside the house, the publication says.

According to the document, a percentage of 6.4% afforded to change the furniture, 13.3% bought   electrical appliances and 11.7% went to  the theatre and cinema.

On the other hand, only 16.1% of the households in Romania could afford to buy books, newspapers, magazines.

The INS data show that a third of the households in Romania did not pay on time the rent last year and 14.5% the electricity. Similarly 6.4% could not pay on time the radio-tv subscription and 6.2%  - the phone.

In order to face the current expenses, 10.6% of the households used supplementary work, 11.2% financial aids, non-refundable  from relatives, friends, 6.5% loans from relatives, friends, other people, 7.3%  to savings. Only 69.6% of the households can afford the expenses with the total net monthly  income.

Income taxes, contributions to the budgets of social  insurance, other taxes had in 2016 a share of 20.3% of the total expenses of a household, going up to the sum of 513 lei/month, according to INS.

From this sum, the salary tax was 39.7% against 39.5% in 2015 and the social insurance contributions (for pension, unemployment fund and health insurance) 58.4% as compared to 56.3%  in 2015.

In 2015 the share of taxes was 19% of the total expenses, and the sum was 446.1 lei/household.

‘Taxes, contributions, fees own a big share in the total expenses of the households where the income is mainly from salaries. Thus in 2016, the share in the total expenses was 29.2% for the households of employees as compared to 13.6% for those of unemployed, 9.8% for pensioners households, 4.9% for those with self-employed households  in non-agricultural activities and only 3.7% in the case of households of farmers’ the document says.

In fact, in 2016 the average percentage of transfers in households of employees was 13.9 higher than that of those paid by the  households of farmers, ten times higher than the transfers paid by the households of sel-employed in non-agricultural activities, 5.6 times higher than those of pensioners and 4.1 unemployed or even higher than those of households of unemployed.

The main destination of the expenses of households – consumption – was on average 71.7% of the total expenses. The consumption expenses represented 1,810 lei/month/household and the expenses for purchase of food ( including expenses in public units)non-food and for the payment of services went up to 1,612 lei/month (63.9% of the total expenses).

According to INS, the other side of consumption expenses, the countervalue of human consumption  from their own resources ( those products of food and non-food from own resources which are consumed by the members of the household) was equal to 198.1 lei/household and represented 7.8 % from total expenses.
