The Romanians can invest in government securities in January 2021 as well
The Romanians can subscribe starting with 4th January 2021, for three new emissions of government securities in the programmed Tezaur, with maturities of one, three and five years and interests of 3.25%, 3.5% and 3.75% announced on Wednesday the ministy of public finances (MFP).
The securities are dematerialised and have a nominal value of one leu, and the interest is paid at the deadlines included in the emission prospects.
According to MFP, the securities issued in the Programul Tezaur are transferable and can be bought back in advance. An investor can have one or more subscriptions in one emission.
The securities can be bought: between 4 and 27 January from the offices of the State Treasury, between 4 and 26 January from the Romanian Post offices for the rural environment and between 4 and 26 January for the urban environment through the Romanian Post Offices.
‘The natural persons aged over 18 on the date of the subscription are eligible. The ceiling of the sums which can be invested by natural persons in an emission was eliminated’ the MFP press release says.
Last but not least, the investors have the possibility to annul the subscriptions already made by lodging a request only during the subscription period.
In case of death, the right of property over the securities is transferred to inheritors, who present legal documents acknowledging this quality.
‘The saving alternative of the Ministry of Public Finances has enjoyed much interest on the part of the Romanians, the income being not taxed’ say the representatives of MFP.
The funds obtained by the ministry of public finaces as issuer will be used to finance the budgetary deficit and refinancing of the public debt.
