Romania interested to participate in the FAO programmes in the Republic of Moldova

Romania is interested to participate and get involved in the programmes and projects unfolded by the United Nations Organisation for Food and Agriculture (FAO) in the Republic of Moldova, the more so it will be a member of the FAO Council starting with 30 June 2016 for three years and will hold the presidency of the European Union's Council in the second half of 2019. 

According to a release by the Agriculture Ministry sent, this interest was reiterated on Monday by Agriculture Minister Achim Irimescu in a meeting at the ministry with FAO Assistant Director-General and Regional Representative for Europe and Central Asia Vladimir Olegovich Rakhmanin. 

In his turn, the FAO official said the support given by Romania to the Republic of Moldova, to Ukraine and to Georgia is an important contribution for their development. 

Achim Irimescu also informed the FAO representative that he accepted the organisation's proposal to host in the 4th quarter of 2016 the Regional Conference on Fisheries in the Black Sea. 

The agriculture minister confirmed his participation as head of Romania's delegation to the FAO Regional Conference for Europe in Antalya, Turkey on 4-6 May
