Tourism : The tourists’ overnight stays in the establishments of tourists’ reception increased by 9.6% in January

Compared to the corresponding month of the previous year, both the arrivals and the overnight stays in the establishments of tourists’ reception with functions of tourists’ accommodation increased by 9.6 % each, in January 2018.

Compared to January 2017, in January 2018 customs registered an increase in both the arrivals of foreign visitors of 22.4 % and in the departures abroad of the Romanian visitors of 13.6 %.
The overnight stays recorded in the tourist accommodation units of Romania in January hit 1.361 million, up by 9.6 pct against January 2017, over 78 pct being Romanian tourists, according to data released on Friday by the National Statistics Institute (INS).
The number of the foreign tourists in total overnight stays reached 21.9 pct, most of whom from Europe (74.3 pct), with 75.7 pct from the European Union.
The accommodations' net utilization index in the said month was 21.7 pct on total accommodation units, up 1.6 pct against January 2017. Higher utilization indices of the accommodation were recorded at hotels (26.9 pct), tourist villas (18.5 pct), boarding houses (17.4 pct), hostels (15.7 pct) and tourist huts (15.1pct).
